DCMI Work Structure: Communities, Task Groups, Working Groups

Please note that a new strcuture for technical work is under development as discussed and approved at DCMI meetings in Manzanillo in October 2006. DCMI Working Groups will be restructured as DCMI Communities and DCMI Task Groups. A DCMI Community, with a Web page and mailing list, will serve as a forum fordiscussion on special topics or domain applications. A DCMI Task Group will develop specific deliverables such as application profiles on a DCMI wiki.

DCMI Communities

DCMI Communities bring together people interested in a specific topic related to Dublin Core metadata or the use of Dublin Core in a particular domain. DCMI Communities are moderated by one or two moderators. They have a Web page on the DCMI Web site and a mailing list for discussio nand exchange of information. Participation in a DCMI Community isfor anybody who subscribes to themailing list. Information on subscribing to the mailing list can be found on the Community's Web page.

The following DCMI Communities are currently active:

Other Communities will be established as we are converting Working Groups in the next months.

DCMI Working Groups

DCMI Working groups are organized around specific problem domains. Working groups are formed and dissolved as dictated by the work at hand and the availability of expertise to accomplish such work. Participation in working groups isto interested members of the community with the time and expertise relevant to the domain of the group. Information on joining a working group can be found on the working group's home page.

Active Groups

Deactivated Groups

As the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative matures, DCMI Working Groups are deactivated either because their work is done, the issues are no longer being addressed, or because the group has decided to change the focus of the issues. In any case, these deactivated groups remain part of the historical record of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative.
